The objective of Manitoba Pork Council's animal care program is to promote the development and use of proven swine welfare systems and practices to meet the fundamental need of pigs in all facets of swine production.
Our projects include informing and educating the public about industry practices and initiatives in an interactive setting at summer and winter fairs. We advocate practices covered in the welfare code of practice and regularly feature animal care articles in Council's newsletter. We also promote education and training measures to further the welfare needs of pigs and continue efforts to explore alternative group sow housing systems.
