Manitoba hockey players and curlers are known around the world, recognized for their talent and ability to compete at the highest levels of their sports. Athletes like Jonathan Toews, Jocelyne Larocque, Jason Gunnlaugson, and Jennifer Jones, among others, have proudly represented our province on the national and international stage.

Community sports are builders of character and create the foundation of a healthy lifestyle, with leagues and arenas across the province serving as valuable connectors both in cities and towns. Sport can bring people together, and as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to have organized sports and activities that communities can collectively rally around. Young people benefit greatly from organized sports as well, and after having missed over a year of activity due to the pandemic, it is vital that communities do what they can to support grassroots and amateur sports in their areas.

Communities like Winkler, Neepawa, Steinbach and others are proud to host Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) franchises with decorated histories of both receiving strong community support and paying that support forward, through food and Christmas toy drives and other philanthropic efforts. These communities welcome young hockey players from across the province and country into their homes, schools, and towns during the hockey season. Manitoba Pork, the organization representing Manitoba’s hog farmers, proudly supports the MJHL through sponsorship, including the Peak Performer of the Month Award, which recognizes a player who goes above and beyond off the ice, by showing a strong commitment to volunteering in their local community.

Manitoba is known across Canada and around the world as one of the hotbeds of curling. Our province has produced Olympic, world, and national champions in men’s, women’s, and mixed curling, and CurlManitoba, along with their support of today’s champions, mentors young curlers and those just getting introduced to the game. Manitoba Pork is extremely pleased to continue its long-standing partnership with CurlManitoba to help facilitate the growth of curling across our province and ensure our elite curlers continue to dominate on the world stage.

On behalf of its farmers large and small, Manitoba Pork will continue to support athletes through amateur sports organizations like the MJHL and CurlManitoba to help hockey players and curlers excel in sport, foster the value of teamwork, and build community pride.
